Stamped monogram cupcakes!

monogram cupcakes
Hello everyone! I hope you guys are having an amazing weekend, I know I am! Today I had a baby shower to bake for. The mommy to be ordered 50 chocolate chip cupcakes. She wasn't sure what she wanted so I suggested monogram cupcakes since the baby boy already had a name (Jacob).

A lot of the letter cookie/fondant cutters are cheesy. I knew I wanted these to look a little classier than a typical block lettering or a funky kiddy font. Don't me wrong, I use my block lettering and my funky kid lettering all the time (the minnie mouse cake), BUT the mommy to be likes simple and clean designs. I thought about a solution to this little dilemma and I decided to buy some stamps...like ink stamps. Worked like a charm, and so easy too!

For these cupcakes I had 4 supplies:

First I cut circles out of modeling chocolate, then i tried my new idea, and WOW! They looked great! These will be the background for my monogram decoration.

Now for the blue monogrammed disks. I used marshmallow fondant (I'll post a tutorial showing how to make this eventually) colored blue. I HATE kneading coloring into white fondant, but that's because I may very well be the laziest person on earth. THANKFULLY, it was only a small amount of fondant :) Knead, Knead, Knead until the coloring gel is completely mixed in and you have a nice even color.
I used a water bottle cap to cut the blue disks out. The water bottle cap was the PERFECT size for what i was looking for. Cheaper than buying another pack of circular cutters! After all the disks were cut out, i stamped my "J" stamp in the center of all. CUTE!

Now, the big question, to sprinkle or not to sprinkle?! I texted mommy to be asking her preference, she decided the more chocolate the better. We went the sprinkles route. For a simpler clean look ditch the sprinkles but they're gorgeous either way don't you think?

boxed and ready for delivery! Mommy to be loved them and gave me a $50 tip!!! Holy crap! that made my day. New crystal chandelier for my new casita here I come!

Tell me what you think! Pretty please?? :)

  3. I would love the recipe for the marshmallow fondant. I am not a fan of regular fondant, so if it has mallow's in it I might actually like it! I love the stamping idea! I have a ton of them so this is another great way to use them!
    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Hi,

Very clever, Jackie, to use an ink stamp for the monogram. They look delicious and classy either way, with sprinkles or without. I'm sure they were a hit at the baby shower. I enjoyed looking at your posts - particularly the post card art. Please, if you have time, stop by my site and say "hello".
